David W. “Dave” Delaney Sr., age 85, of Fall Branch, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Life Care Center of Gray following a brief illness.  

Born in Newton, Massachusetts on January 27, 1935, a son of the late James and Irene Delaney, he has resided in this area since 1996, moving from Rockville, Maryland. 

He graduated from Boston College in 1955 with a Master’s degree in accounting. He married Mildred Killen on April 20, 1963 in Bristol, Tennessee.  He was a veteran United States Coast Guard.  Dave retired from the United States Department of Energy in 1996 following 20 plus years of service.  Prior to the Department of Energy, he was employed at Fairchild, Rayethon, & Westington House.

Dave will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, brother and friend who loved listening to music, playing sports, and being with his family and he never spoke badly of anyone. 

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Delaney (2017); son, David W. Delaney (2018); brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Delaney and James “Jim” Delaney.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Midge Killen Delaney; son, Mark Delaney (Ruth Goldberg) of Odenton, Maryland; granddaughter, Cheyenne Costello; sister, Jean Collins (Eddie) of Newton, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dave Rowland.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch, Tennessee. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Dr. Bobby Bernard officiating.
