Centerville, Utah – Craig Dean Tatton, our kind and beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor passed away of a sudden massive brain bleed at the age of 75 on July 2, 2020 at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Craig was born September 27, 1944 to Donald Fred and Betty Jane Van Wagoner Tatton. He grew up in North Ogden and graduated from Weber High School with the class of 1963. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Toronto Canada. He graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors in Social Work. He earned a Masters Degree as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from The University of Utah. He married Judy Messinger. They later divorced. He served his country in the Army National Guard. Craig worked at the LDS Hospital counseling patients. He worked with transplant patients, rehabilitation, and was instrumental in developing new programs in these fields. While Working at LDS Hospital he met a very special nurse named Carolee Rees. They developed a wonderful friendship, and soon became sweethearts. They were married on February 21, 1987 in the Manti LDS Temple, Manti, Utah. Craig’s loving and kind nature made him an excellent husband. He loved to shop for his wife, and enjoyed baking special cakes. Their family was blessed with two sons, Spencer Craig and Nathan Robert. Craig loved his wife and sons very much. Craig was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served alongside his wife in the Bountiful LDS Temple for several years, and enjoyed it immensely. He served the Lord in many other calling from cleaning the chapel to working with the Young Men’s Program, the Boy Scouts, and the Cub Scouts. He served in Bishoprics and Elders Quorum Presidencies. Craig had many talents. He enjoyed restoring old cars. His last car was a striking 1932 Chevrolet which he took to many car shows and parades, earning numerous trophies. He was a talented woodworker. He won many blue ribbons at the Utah State Fair. He took great pride in his beautiful creations, and he loved to give them away to his doctors, therapists, mechanics, ward members, and friends and family. It gave Craig great joy to give. Craig likes to run, and ran marathons. He also enjoyed biking and photography. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. His loved ones hold dearly their many cherished memories of camping together, and taking road trips. These last few years Craig suffered greatly with physical disability imposed by his Parkinson’s disease. He fought Parkinson’s with everything he had. His positive attitude and desire to give was an inspiration to all who knew him. Even though he suffered he continued to do wood working projects until his passing. Through it all his wife Carolee was the best care giver anyone could hope for. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts. We take comfort in the knowledge that he is free from physical pain and enjoying a wonderful reunion with his loved ones who went before him. Craig is survived by his wife Carolee Tatton of Centerville; his sons: Spencer Tatton of Bountiful; Nathan Tatton of Centerville; brother Ron and Shelly Tatton of Layton; sister Marta Havens of West Valley City; sisters-in-law: Kathy Tatton of Morgan; Claudia Rees of Midway; Jolynn and Jim Blodgett of Holden; brothers-in-law: Stephen and Linda Rees of Salem; Stanley and Karen Rees of Sandy; Sterling and Cynthia Rees of Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Fred and Betty Jane Van Wagoner Tatton; parents-in-law: Spencer and Luzenia Rees; brother Roy Tatton; brother-in-law Devon Rees. Grave side services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the Loa City Cemetery, Loa, Utah. Friends may call for viewing from 6:00Pm to 8:00 PM Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Services with military honors provided by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92, and the Utah Honor Guard are under care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
