DONNA SUE COX HICKMAN, 83, of Spencer, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020. She passed away peacefully at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after a long illness, with her family by her side. She was born July 31, 1939 in Spencer, a daughter of the late Dallas O. Cox and Helen Greathouse Cox Ahlheit. She was retired from Spencer State Hospital and had also been an employee of Hays and Company and Boggs Natural Gas. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove Church near Reedy and was a 1955 Spencer High School graduate where she was instrumental in organizing all of the class reunions Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, James W. Hickman; a son, Timothy and Kathy Hickman of Spencer; daughter-in-law, Sheryl and Beau Fry of Ripley; grandchildren, Shali and Timothy Casto of Ripley, Katie and Devin Rhodes of Clover, Jamie Hickman and Bobby of St. Clairsville, Ohio, James Bradley and Hilliary Hickman of Spencer, and Chase Fry of Ripley; five great-grandchildren, Brady and Gracie Rhodes, and Jaelyn, Hadley, and Wyatt Hickman of Spencer; half siblings, Charlie Cox, Patty Jo Carpenter, and Elmer Paul (Wally) Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James “Jimmy’ Wilbur Hickman, Jr.; and brothers, D.O. “Bud” and Ed Cox. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Hodam Cemetery near Spencer with Pastor John Ellison officiating. A private visitation for family and close friends will be held on Monday before leaving for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please do an act of kindness in Donna’s name.
