Bronzel Pickett

Redmond, Utah – Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend Bronzel LaBriel Pickett, age 99, returned home to our Heavenly Father on July 2, 2020 at his home in Redmond. Bronzel was born on December, 11 1920, in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Labriel and Sarah Agness Westover Pickett. He attended Gunnison High School where he graduated with the Class of 1939. He attended and played football at Snow College. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Rula Jensen on March 21, 1944 in the Manti LDS Temple, Manti, Utah. She passed away on March 29, 1999. He then married Norma Joy Trejo Palmer on March 11, 2000 in the Manti LDS Temple. She passed away on July 16, 2019. Bronzel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served multiple missions for the church, in Toronto, Canada from 1941 to 1944, with his wife Rula in Tallahassee, Florida from 1983 to 1985, and in Jackson, Mississippi from 1986 to 1987. He served as a member of the High Council, and he worked in the temple for over 20 years. He was a member of Redmond American Legion Post #118. Bronzel had a long and productive life. He worked at Sugar Valley Sales in Gunnison, and in the Sugar Beet Factory. He later owned a dairy in Clarion, Utah. After which he moved to Redmond where he bought the grocery store named Pickett’s Market while also working at the Salt Mine. He built a dairy farm near Redmond Lake from which he eventually retired. After which he bought the Old Redmond Church where he ran a roller skating rink for 8 years. Bronzel loved to hunt and to work in the garden; however his greatest passion was for his family. He would take his whole family on vacations, and they still love to talk and laugh about those memories to this day. They will be forever grateful for the memories he helped them make, for the great example he set, the love he shared, and the incredible influence he has had on their lives. He was survived by his children: Jerry and EvaMae Pickett of Payson; Sandra and Eugene Thomas of Riverton; Preston and Gladys Pickett of Eagle Mountian, Glen and LeAnn Pickett of Redmond; Karen and Perry Gates of Salina; his step-children: David and Sue Palmer; Sharlene and Randy Christensen; Jeanine and Max Alred; Mary Beth and Victor Juarez; Kent and Shelly Palmer; Bonnie and Todd Wilkins; his sister Glenna Hill of Orem; 37 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. Lester and Bronzel were working at the farm in the South fields using Lester's truck. When they finished Bronzel opened the gate and Lester drove through the gate and down the road into town and forgot Bronzel. Bronzel had to walk home.
