Elsie Bell Obituary

Elsie Bell, 94, of Oakland City, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born May 1, 1926 in Wheeling to the late Carson C. White and Gillie Lydia (Whitehouse) White. She married Wayne L. Bell on August 7, 1942 and they were blessed with 68 years together before his passing in 2007. Elsie worked her youngest years in a powdered egg factory in Oklahoma for the service boys during WWII. She went on to work at Potter and Brumfield as a machine operator for 40 years. She was a devoted member of Somerville Community Church and the Oakland City Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling, especially on bus trips and handmaking beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren who will cherish them always. She was a wonderful cook, known for her pies and dumplings, and loved her family dearly. She loved the Lord with all her heart and always read her bible every night. She will be missed beyond measure.  

Elsie is survived by her children, Carolyn Ann Kelle, Brenda Koelling, Patty Koelling (Carl), and Betty Jo Singleton (Joe); grandchildren, Lori Hollander (Randy), Rusty Kelle (Tammy), Timothy Koelling, Tia Matthew (Marcus), Randy Singleton (Beth), Andy Singleton (Cheryl), and Cortni McEllhiney; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Tyler, Hunter, Andy, Mack, Jordan (Sarah), Baylee, Nesha (Josiah), Austin, Peter, and Elias; great-great-grandchildren, Alena and Bailee; step-great-great-grandchild, Justice; sister, Margaret Rector; and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 11 siblings.  

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM (CDT) Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Somerville Community Church in Somerville with Pastor Harley Nickless and Pastor Tom Maikranz officiating. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 PM until service time, 4:00 PM (CDT) on Wednesday.
