H. L. Porter, Jr., 85, of Lucedale, MS, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, July 3, 2020. Junior was born on June 3, 1935, to the late Henry L. Porter Sr. and Ruby Susan Cumbest Porter in Pascagoula, MS. He was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend. Junior was a faithful member of Caswell Springs United Methodist Church for many years. His family will miss his dry sense of humor, and his ability to keep everyone around him laughing. Along with his parents, Junior is preceded in death by his son, Steve Porter, his granddaughter, Buffie Porter, and her grandson, Bud Beckham. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, of 66 years, Dolores "Butch" Porter; son, Larry (Sandra) Porter; daughter, Vickie (Ronnie) Brooks; grandchildren, Rustin (Keisha) Porter, Amber (Chad) Cumbest, Jason (Heidi) Porter, and Nena Gregory; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Benny (Pat) Porter; and fur baby, Toby; along with numerous other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church in Wade, MS. The funeral service will follow beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Caswell Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Bill Hudson, R.E. Whittington, Mark Vice, Bengie Porter, Joel Porter, Jason Porter, Rustin Porter, and Ryan Cumbest serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike and Peanut Bullock.
