Robert "Bob" Elmer Botner was born on June 28th, 1949 in Alexandria to Clifton and Olivia (Ellertson) Botner. He was baptized at East Moe Church in Garfield and confirmed at First Lutheran in Alexandria. Bob grew up in Alexandria on Lake Victoria with his three sisters, before that living in Minneapolis for a short time. Bob graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 1968 and then completed schooling at Alexandria Technical College. He retired after 36 years of being a custodian at Knute Nelson Nursing Home. He enjoyed his job and loved the people and residents that he worked with. People who worked with Bob remember him fondly. Knute Nelson seemed like a second home to him.

He was united in marriage to Kathy Kuyava on October 27th, 1990 at East Moe Church. Bob and Kathy had twin girls together: Heather and Megan. They made their home in Alexandria and enjoyed living in their little house together and making memories on 8th street for 25 years.

Bob was an incredibly kind man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed hunting of any kind and fishing. Bob and Kathy enjoyed frequent trips to Florida together. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and being in the boat. He loved watching westerns and telling stories and "remember whens". He had a unique sense of humor and had the best laugh. He loved playing cards, mostly poker with family or cribbage with Kathy. He enjoyed camping with his family and was a Vikings fan through and through. Most of all, he loved his family fiercely and was very proud of them. 

Bob passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at home.

Bob is survived by his wife Kathy of Alexandria, MN, daughter Heather Botner of Alexandria, MN, daughter Megan (Riley) Hinman of Alexandria, MN, sister Barbara Johnson of North Port, FL, sister Donna (Joe) Holte of Henning, MN, brother-in-law Tim Holte of Grygla, MN, mother-in-law Lorraine Kuyava of Alexandria, MN and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Olivia Botner, sister Marion Holte, brother-in-law Jon Johnson and father-in-law Norman Kuyava. 

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.  Burial will be at East Moe Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
