Grover Palmer Montgomery Obituary

Grover Palmer Montgomery, 88, of Pendleton, KY passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, July 3, 2020 at his Pattons Creek residence. He was born on June 19, 1932 in Pendleton, KY to the late Charles and Anna Mae Neal Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery served in the United States Air Force from October 1951 to October 1955, honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He retired after many years as a welder from the General Electric company in Louisville, KY and was a member of Local 761 of the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried Machine and Furniture workers (IUE). He was a volunteer for Multiple Sclerosis support groups, enjoy playing cards and Sequence games. He was an avid woodworker, making Sequence boards and cherished pieces for his family. He was a devoted and lifelong member of Sligo Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his three cousins: Rick Noel and his wife, Nancy of Pendleton, Derek Noel and his wife, Becky of Statesboro, GA, and Melanie Petterman and her husband, Matt of Symrna, GA; one nephew, Larry Greenwood and his wife, Sharon of Milton, KY; and three great nieces: Linda K. O’Brath and her husband, Tim of Milton, Bethany A. Griffin and her husband, Randy of North Vernon, IN, and Amy N. Renfro and her husband, Steven of Highland, IL; and one great nephew, Glenford A. Greenwood and his wife, Stacie of Hebron, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha Katherine (Greenwood) Montgomery on January 11, 2006.
