Robert J. Woods

ROBERT J. WOODS, 89, of Springfield, passed away Saturday morning, December 12, 2015 at Eaglewood Care Center. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on October 6, 1926, the son of the late Irvin and Ruth (Davis) Woods. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a buyer for Robbins & Myers for 25 years, as a purchasing agent at LEDEX, Dayton for 15 years, and in his retirement, for Springfield Township overseeing the care of Vale Cemetery. He was a member of High St. United Methodist Church where he was active in the Emmaus Community and a member of the Springfield Noon Lions Club for many years. Bob was an avid golfer playing in the Snyder Park Saturday morning best ball. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita J. (Miller) Woods; three children, Michael E. Woods, Sherri L. Linton (Tim Casey) and Tina L. (Doug) Vannatta, all of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Watson, Chris Linton, Tiffany Linton, Autumn (Josh) Swyers, Ashley Vannatta, Jacob Woods, and Alexandra Woods; seven great grandchildren; his best friends, Doug Smith and Bill McBride; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Louise, Jim, Maurice, Billy Marvin, and Neil. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A service in celebration of Bob's life will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 304, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
