Dorothy Bell Richardson Obituary

Dorothy Bell Richardson, 93, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend passed peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
Graveside services will be conducted at Glenwood Cemetery Alvarado, Texas, on July 8th at 1:00 o’clock PM.  Face masks will be requested out of consideration for all those in attendance.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Alvarado Volunteer Fire Department or a local fire department of your choice.
Dorothy was born to Ulas H. “King” Solomon and Mollie Couch Solomon July 5, 1926 near Alvarado, Texas.  She married her husband, C.T. “Ted” Richardson, September 5, 1942.  After Ted returned from WWII, they continued to live in Alvarado.  Dorothy loved Alvarado and was very active in the town’s activities and events.  She served on various committees and organizations including the City Council and the Old Settler’s Reunion. With her husband the Alvarado Volunteer Fire Department Chief, she helped support them by serving as coordinator of the Ladies Auxiliary Fire Team and the Ladies Pumper Team.  Dorothy was an active participant in her church.  She loved to play the piano each Sunday and regularly participated in local singings.  But as much as she loved Alvarado, she loved her family much more.  God and family were her priorities.  She lived out her faith by supporting, caring, sharing and loving her family and extended family ready to assist with any need that may arise.  That love and sharing continued even after her husband passed away in early 1986.  Dorothy  remained in Alvarado with her devotion to faith and her church for over 20 years. In 2012, due to declining health issues, she grudgingly left her favored town to move closer to one of her sons near San Antonio.
She is preceded in death by her parents Molly and Ulas Solomon; sister Audrey M. Hill; brother, Ulas “Sprout” Solomon; and her husband, C.T. Richardson.  She is survived by her son Charles and wife Sharon Richardson; son Harold and wife Stacy Richardson; sister-in-law Glenda Solomon; four grandchildren, Christy Wehrmann and husband Lee; Danny Richardson and wife Alissa; Chad Richardson and wife D’Anna; Cody Richardson and wife Wendye; 10 great grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
