John F. Burke

John F. Burke, age 75, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Jyme Burke (nee Davis), his daughter, Julie (Larry Gelin) Burke; his grandson, Tyce Carlson; his brothers and sisters, Don (Ruth) Widner, Rick (Janice) Widner, Ike (Cathy) Widner, Tim (Minerva) Widner, Bobbie Jo (Jim) Meredith and Christine Parks; his step-dad, Merle (Anne) Widner and his brother in law, Jerry Curl. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his mother, Leona Widner; his brother, Wayne (Judy) Burke and his sisters, Linda Curl, Diane (John) Bush and Debbie Marriner. John was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. After he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps he married, Jyme Davis on July 3rd, 1965. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He always did what he could for his family. John was an avid fisherman. He always had a fishing story to share, and always shared his best fishing spots. John had a quick wit and funny comment to lighten any mood. John enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time tossing the toy for his dog Cookie. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
