ROSENBERGER: Velma August 23, 1933 – June 26, 2020 Velma Rosenberger aged 86 years of Lanigan and formerly Guernsey, SK passed away peacefully at Lanigan Hospital on Friday, June 26, 2020. Velma was born on the family farm by Guernsey Saskatchewan on August 23rd, 1933. She lived on the farm until the family moved into Guernsey in 1966. Velma attended Waterloo and Guernsey school. She eventually moved to Prince Albert where she took her nursing. Velma started working at Victoria Union Hospital and eventually became supervisor of the operating room. She worked there for 30+ years. After that she returned to the family home in Guernsey, where she lived until 2013. At that time, she moved into the Carlton condos in Lanigan where she remained until April of 2020. Her final months were spent at the Lanigan Hospital. Velma was a member of Sharon Mennonite Church all her life until the church had to close in 2004. She then called North Star Mennonite church, in Drake, her home. She was involved with many organizations including the Saskatchewan History Society. Velma is survived by her sister, Inez; her niece, Patricia and Bob Balion and their children Copeland, Keaton and Kendrex; her brother-in-law Don Bowman; nephew, Roger and Sally; their daughters Natalie and Chantel and Ben Cleveland and their daughter Adaline; nephew Glenn and Monique and their family, Blair and Michelle, Amy, Jessica, Matthew and Eirn and their daughter Ellie. She was predeceased by her parents David and Irva; by her sister Blanche Bowman and by her brother-in-law Joe Corniere. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Lanigan hospital for keeping her comfortable and taking great care of her. We would also like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions a Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Sharon Cemetery on Thursday, July 2, 2020. A Visitation for family and friends will take place at Fotheringham’s Funeral Chapel, Watrous, SK on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. For those so wishing donations to Mennonite Central Committee or North Star Mennonite Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
