Adele Stone Johnson, 92, formerly of Joplin, MO. passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Adele was born June 22, 1915, in Joplin, Mo. to Albert and Anna Lindstrum Maeder. She was a 1933 graduate of Joplin High School. Adele married Everett Stone and resided in Baxter Springs, Ks. There were two daughters, Sharon and Linda born to this union.She was a homemaker and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. She was widowed in 1951. She married Maurice Johnson of Joplin in 1957. With Maurice, came two sons, Jim and Bill. While in Joplin, Adele was a member of Byers Ave. Methodist Church. In 2005, she moved to Liberty, MO. to be near family. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Everett Stone and Maurice Johnson, a daughter Linda Stone, a son Wm. Johnson, and two sisters Naomi Ward and Dorothy O'Toole. Survivors inclute her daughter, Sharon Lockard, son James Johnson and wife Barbara, daughter-in-law Gail Johnson, four grandchildren and their spouses: Mark and Susan Lockard, Kim and Rick Watson, Amy and Jay Cole, Cindy and Dierk Hamilton. Grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Johnson, Mark, Kevin, and Brian Crary, fifteen great-grandchildren [who lovingly called her G.G. (for great-grandma) ]: Emily, Jeremy, Kristen, Kathryn, Megan, Marshall, Ryan, Nathan, Chance, Kaelin, Jack, Tyler, Britany, Conner, and Hayden. Other extended family members and many friends. Adele will be remembered for her many passions, including framily, friends, bridge, sewing, and cooking. She was always ready to share her faith in God and her positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her family was her greatest source of joy and pride. Her grandchildren and "greats" will remember her most for her back scratches and story-telling. Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Mark Lockard will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Byers Avenue United Methodist Church, in care of Parker Mortuary. The family sincerely appreciates the loving care Adele received from the staff of Pleasant Valley Manor and Good Shepherd Hospice.
