Estanila Gassant Olivier, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on June 6, 2020. In her
Latter years she survived 3 strokes and suffered from Dementia. She was a very strong
Woman, but on that day, our Gracious Lord Jesus Christ called her Home at the ripe old age
Of 95 years.
Estanila was born on May 5th, 1925 in Southern Haiti and had loving parents in her mother
Sultana Gassant and stepfather Alexandre Fequiere.
At a young age, she came to Port-au-Prince where she worked hard and grew into maturity.
"Teta", as many of us called her, was the name I gave her, when as an enfant, I could not
Pronounce “Esta”; the shortened version of her name. She has always been there for me.
My mother Marila passed away in 1975. In 1976 Esta arrived here from Haiti and began
To care for both my late father Emmanuel and me. She had never married and didn’t have any
Children of her own. And somewhere along the way she became “Mrs. Olivier” and the only
Mother I have known since, until she went home. Estanila was selfless, loving and kind. She
was one of the hardest-working people I know. May her soul rest in peace.
Estanila Gassabt Olivier is predeceased by her parents Sultana Gassant and Alexandre
Fequire, and her husband Emmanuel Olivier. She is survived by her stepson Gerard, step
daughter-in-law Laurence, grandsons Daniel and Nicolas. She also leaves behind cousins,
nephews, nieces and friends
