Milton Leigh Cordingly Roundup, Montana Obituary

Milton Leigh Cordingly

Milton "Milt" Leigh Cordingly was tragically killed in an automobile accident outside of Roundup, MT on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the age of 61 years. Milt was born July 17th, 1958 in Roundup, MT to Ruth and Howard Cordingly. He grew up in Roundup and was the best bench warmer the school had ever seen. He worked at the family grocery store and ran a paper route in town to buy a new Opal. After graduating in 1976 he went on to join the Navy. After the Navy, he went to Montana State University and graduated with an electrical engineering degree. He met the Greek Goddess of his life Sandra Snortland at a Halloween party in 1982 and they were married on November 26th, 1983. They moved several places before settling down in Austin, TX where they raised their children Travis and Cassandra. Milt was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned home to Roundup to care for his ailing Mother Ruth and was the Adolph’s Migrant One Eye Worker helping on the ranch and grew to love Kathy’s cooking. Milt had a very successful career as an Automated Navigation Electrical Engineer. His job took him all over the world working on drones, missiles and airplane navigation systems. His self-described biggest success was having both of his children graduate from the University of Texas. His pride and joy was his grandson Ian, and his new name became Umpa. He enjoyed watching Nascar with his grandson and took him on a trip to Talladega. His other hobby was his love for corvettes. He was proud to show off his ’78 black “Ebony” corvette and ’93 maroon “Ruby” corvette. Milt never met a stranger and was always down for a good time. He enjoyed boating, cars, and helping others. He would drop what he was doing to assist any friend in need and would give you the shirt off his back. We will miss the silly banter of his life stories and jokes. He cherished time with his family, wife, and animals. Milt is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Travis (Eric), Grandpups Maya, Marla, Maggie and Rainey; daughter, Cassandra (Eddie), Grandsons, Ian and soon to be Braxton; Sisters, Janet Stout, Marcia Abbey (Jim); mother-in-law Irene Snortland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Ruth and Howard Cordingly, Sister Rosalyn Clift, brother Dwight Cordingly. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday June 27th, 2020 at 11 am at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Roundup, MT. Weir Funeral Home ~ www.weirfuneralhome.com
