Leona Mayfield, 79 of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away quietly in her sleep, Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She leaves behind a very loving family who will miss her forever. Leona loved to crochet, do puzzle books, play cards and watch her dozens of hummingbirds. She made the most of her life before the Lord took her away to be with her Labrador retriever, Carlee. Leona is survived by three daughters, Martha Achtermann, Beckie Bush and Leeann Bush and her husband, Carmen DeGennaro, with whom she lived. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicole Achtermann Kennedy, Christina Marie Achtermann and Jeffery James Brayn, Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren, her sister, Nellie Sluder of Wilmington, Delaware ( her only surviving sister out of 13 siblings), and lots of loving nieces and nephews. There will be a small family gathering on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her residence.
