Helen Dane of Dagsboro, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017. She was born in Hungary and arrived in the United States in 1957 with her late husband, Andrew, and their young son Andy. She and her family settled in Dagsboro, soon after, when Andrew was hired by Delmarva Power. She is survived by her son, Andy Dane and wife Jane, her daughter, Shirley Townsend and husband Chet, and 3 grandchildren, Andrew Ryan Dane, Veronica Townsend and Ches Townsend. She was a talented seamstress, and well-skilled in many arts and crafts. She also shared in her family's love of tennis, both competitively and recreationally. She was an active member of the YMCA, and a dedicated volunteer, even previously earning the "Volunteer of the Year" award. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 1st at Melson's Funeral Chapel in Frankford, DE. Visitation will be available from 12-1 pm, followed by the service at 1 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. George's United Methodist Church, 34281 Omar Road, Frankford DE 19945, or to the Richard A. Henson Family YMCA, 715 S. Schumaker Drive, Salisbury MD 21802.
