Mildred B. (Mickie) Christfield, 83, of Selbyville, Delaware went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2017. Mickie was a retired elementary school teacher of forty plus years teaching in Baltimore County, Maryland and Sussex County, Delaware. She was an avid reader and long time member of P.E.O. An active member of Mariner Bethel Church in Ocean View, Delaware, Mickie sang in the choir, lead home bible studies and coordinated the Bethany Beach weekday beach ministry for years. She loved the beach and was known to participate in the Polar Plunge with the Mariner Bethel group. Mickie was a graduate of the University of Delaware, Class of 1955, and earned her Master’s plus 60 in Education at Towson State University. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara C. Cole (Lynn), of Hanover, Virginia and Joanne C. Desien (Nick), of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Raven and Ramsey Cole, and Nicholas, Christopher and Michelle Desien; brothers Joseph Hudson and Robert Hudson, sister Freda Burton; and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and the kind and loving nurses and caregivers on the Reflections unit at Brandywine Senior Living, Fenwick Island. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE 19970. Burial will be private.
