John Allison Gow, 54, passed away June 26 at his home in Houston TX. The son of the late Robert B. and Dr. Elizabeth D. Gow, he was born August 7, 1954 in Oklahoma City and graduated from Ardmore high school. He held a BFA in Scenery and Lighting Design from the University of Oklahoma and an MFA in Lighting Design from Southern Methodist University. For nearly 30 years he worked as Lighting Supervisor and Scenic Artist at the University of Houston School of Theatre, designing sets and lighting for university productions and working with students in the theatre program. He also designed productions for many other theatres in the Houston area. He was a well-respected member of the Houston theatrical community and a mentor to many aspiring students at the university. He is survived by his brothers Robert D. Gow of Midwest City and Charles E.
