Bernard A. (Bernie) Wagner

Bernard A. "Bernie" Wagner, 92, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away May 3, 2009, in Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Hans and Anna Wagner. He retired from Mutual Federal Savings and Loan as a Loan Officer after 25 years of service. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and was one of the directors of Trinity Lutheran Church in Norfolk, VA. He was active with the Boy Scouts having served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #18 and he was an avid camper. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ellen Wagner; two sons, William Wagner and wife Barbara of Virginia Beach, VA and Robert Wagner and wife Pat of North Carolina; a brother, Herbert Wagner of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wagner of Chesapeake, VA; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Carl Richard Wagner. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Lawrence J. Zimmermann officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CHKD and Christ Lutheran Church.
