Theodore Rudy Martinez

Theodore Rudy Martinez, a sailor, cook and life-long resident of Denver, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2020, at the age of 61 at Denver Health Medical Center surrounded by family. Rudy is survived by his wife Kathy and children Augie,Jared and Lisa, nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. His mother Jessica and her husband Richard Zimmerman. His only sister and sibling Yvonne (Mary) and her husband Donnie Letbetter. Two nieces, one nephew, five great nephews and one niece. Two sister-inlaw's, Dorthy and Angie Aguirre. Rudy was born on June 10, 1958, in Denver Colorado the son of Jimmy Martinez and Jessica Zimmerman (Candelaria). He received a High School Diploma and served in the U.S. Navy in San Diego California. After serving in the Navy he landed back in Denver Colorado and married his wife Katy Aguirre. They celebrated 34 years of marriage, May of 2020. He welcomed her 3 kids into his life and became a loving, caring a devoted father to Augie, Jared, and Lisa. He was also a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father Jimmy Martinez and grandparents Lawrence and Marie Candelaria, Josie Martinez, mother-in-law Jennie Aguirre, and 6 brother-in-law's Frank, Johnny, Michael, Augie, Gary, and Ed Aguirre. Numerous aunts and uncles. Rudy loved spending time with his family, cooking and giving his sister a hard time. He enjoyed dancing and trips to Central City. He also had a deep passion for the Oakland Raiders which he made sure everyone knew. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on July 10, 2020, at Fort Logan Cemetery 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236. Flowers, and condolences may be offered at 930 N Lowell Blvd Denver, CO 80204. Due to COVID-19 services will be restricted to immediate family at this time. Extended family and friends will be allowed to attend the services from a distance up to a maximum of 50 to include immediate family in compliance with Colorado COVID-19 restrictions (must wearing a mask and keeping a distance of 6 feet). A celebration of life will be announced at a later date and time.
