John "Wesley" Sims, Sr. Obituary

John "Wesley" Sims, Sr., 71, our beloved father and brother, passed away on August 9, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family. Wesley started his career with Ajax Marble & Stone, then owned his own company, Colonial Marble and Stone. He worked as a general contractor for many years working with Custom Stone Company and Superior Marble. He was proud of his masonry work displayed at the Chrysler Museum and Universal Studios in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, cooking and working with his tools. Born in Orlando, Florida he was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Lorene Sims; his brothers, Grady D. Sims and Richard Eugene Sims; his sister, Anne Marie Jeffers. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanette Sims; his children, John W. Sims, Jr., and Janet S. Sims of Chesapeake, VA; his sister, Lilian Zigler and her husband of 56 years, Ronald as well as his brother, Kenneth R. Sims and Joan Sims, his wife of 47 years. Also left are his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice of Tidewater for their compassionate care. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life officiated by Dr. Sherman Davis and Rev. Bob Jones at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, and a graveside service at Eastern Shore Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.
