Brett William Hopper Obituary

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Brett William Hopper, our beloved son, brother, partner, uncle and father, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in a motorcycle accident less than two miles from his home in Wasilla, Alaska. Brett, age 35, is survived by his longtime love and fiancee, Sammie Wright; her two children, Kielah (14) and Braeden Giles (12); his father, Bill Hopper; stepmother, Cecilia Hopper; sister, Erica Sires and family; stepsiblings, Donald and Teresa McSherry, and Sheila Phillips; and biological sons, Tyson (15) and Daynon (11) Wimer; as well as many other family members and lifelong friends who loved Brett greatly. Brett is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Hopper of Anchorage; and eldest sister, Alecia Hopper of San Francisco, Calif. Born in Palmer, Alaska, Brett attended Sandlake Elementary, Mears Junior High and Dimond High School. Athletic at a young age, Brett grew up playing hockey, baseball, basketball and soccer. He attended Shasta College in Redding, Calif., in 2004. Creative, determined and artistic by nature, Brett's true passion was for writing and recording music. He wrote, performed and produced, in partnership with his brothers at Loop House Records, all original music under the name CUTLESS A.K.A Cutty: www.reverbnation.com/cutless. Brett was an avid sports enthusiast and lifelong Raiders fan. His favorite hobbies were golf, which he and his dad Bill played together as often as they could, and fly-fishing. His and Sammie's favorite ritual was to fish at Memory Lake, just minutes from their home. Brett lived fully, and with all his heart. Whether it was through his music or enduring friendships, Brett made a lasting impression on the world, and it is a more positive place because of his humor, humanity and fierce love for his people. A sign hangs by his bedside, stating " Love Will Save the Day" and nothing could be more true. He and Sammie are expecting a New Year's Eve baby this year. A memorial fund has been set-up for the Hopper Wright Family on GoFundMe, where friends and family can leave remembrances and offerings in Brett's honor. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
