Jackie Floyd Crittenden

Jack Crittenden, 91, loving husband, father, and Granddaddy, passed from this earth to heaven into Jesus’ arms on June 20, 2020 after several years of declining health. He was born on September 4, 1928 in Huntington, Arkansas to John Crittenden and Cora Harris Crittenden.

He was married to the love of his life, Bonnie Windham Crittenden, for over 65 years. Jack is survived by his daughters -- Susan Crittenden, Sherilyn Neel (Nick), and Karen Yale (Doug). He is also survived by his grandchildren -- Cory Crittenden (Katie), Kayla Dale (Ryan), Courtney Fricke (Michael), Aaron Neel (Makayla),Benjamin Neel, Beth Yale, and Amanda Yale, -- along with 6 great-grandchildren and one more on the way! He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Whitworth and Doris Watson.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, son, Glenn, his parents and siblings (Wanda Brooks, Harris Crittenden, and John Harold Crittenden) and by his granddaughter, Katie Diane Yale.

Jack was a wonderful and loving husband to Bonnie through their marriage. He really taught his family what love looked like as he walked with Bonnie through her 11-year battle with dementia. It is probably his greatest legacy along with his integrity. Jack is also remembered for his kindness, generosity, servant heart, great ping pong skill, and finding his way to the yard after work to pull weeds and unwind. He loved reading and studying God’s Word, especially hearing it read to him in the last several years.

Jack worked for Misener Marine Construction almost all of his 42-year career. He began in the estimation department and retired as a Vice President with the company. He loved to travel with his work and “look at jobs” to bid. He recalled fondly the projects they worked on, especially the 7-mile bridge in Marathon, FL and the I-40 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. Those were the ones he talked about most.

Jack was also a faithful member of Thirtieth Avenue Baptist Church for almost 62 years. He led the music and choir for 40 years, taught Sunday School, and served as a deacon. Many have shared stories in the past few days of his and Bonnie’s “behind-the-scenes” work in providing for those who were in need. Jack and Bonnie’s love for missions was also evident, not only in their faithful giving and praying, but also going to serve, especially with the Macedonian Missionary Service group.

Services will be held Monday, June 29th at 10:00 AM at Thirtieth Avenue Baptist Church, 3241 30th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33713. The service will be officiated by Pastor Len Curtis and live-streamed through the church Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/30th-Avenue-Baptist-Church-1620986951474092.

There will be no visitation. Internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, St Petersburg, FL.

Memorial gifts may be given in Jack’s name to Thirtieth Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 60066, St. Petersburg, FL 33784 or Macedonian Missionary Service, http://www.macedonianms.org/ or Suncoast Hospice, https://suncoasthospice.org/.
September 4, 1928 - June 20, 202009/04/192806/20/2020

I had the pleasure of knowing Jack for 40 plus years. He was truly a Godly man and a great example to follow. I also was able to take care of his “Beauty” needs for many years. Jack never lost his sense of humor and was truly one of the sweetest men I’ve known. So happy ... Continue Reading
