Obituary
On October 31st, 2019 Vernon Douglas Roberston passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre after a year long battle with cancer. Born on November 14th, 1972, Vernon grew up on the family farm near Minto and received his education in Margaret and Boissevain Schools. During those years he was involved in hockey, playing football, curling and attending the Legion Equestrian Camp at the International Peace Garden. While in high school he received many recognitions and awards for his athletic abilities. After graduation Vernon moved to Carberry area and began his career with Simplot now McCain Foods on February 25th, 1993. His career moved forward and in 2012 he returned to school part time in The Pas and by the end of 2014 he had achieved his level 4 in industrial mechanic Millwright. Vernon loved to hunt, fish and camp. His family spent many summers on vacation at the duck mountains camping and fishing. He made many trips up north to go hunting and fishing with his dad, brother, good friends Alex, Keith and Mike. In 2016 he became involved with a Miniature Horse Association and attended many functions with them. Vernon's passion for sports reflected in his coaching of hockey and baseball for his children. Vernon was predeceased by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins along with the mother of his children Kim. Vernon leaves his son Dryden, daughter Averey, father Douglas, mother Wilma (Opperman), brother Darvin (Sabrina), sisters Marilyn (Rick) Reimer, Melissa, fiancé Lana Bedford her children Jenna and Lance, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. A celebration of life was held on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at the Carberry Memorial Hall, Carberry, Manitoba with Rev. Harvey Hurren officiating. Interment at Margaret Cemetery.
