On June 6, 2020 Mabel Elsie Nelson of Ponoka passed away at the Northcott Care Centre at the age of 97 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Allyn (Rita) of Colinton and Ron (Denise) of Evansburg; her grandchildren James (Jo) Nelson of Edmonton, Dooley Nelson of Edmonton, Kirby Jensen of Fallis, and Kelsey Nelson of Edmonton; her great-grandchildren Allyn & Mikayla Nelson and Brooke & Kade Jensen; her siblings Arthur (Jean) McDermand and Merle Walker; sister-in-law Alexi McDermand; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband Bob Nelson; grandson Blair; granddaughter-in-law Nicola Poulter; and siblings Bill McDermand, Charles McDermand, Dave McDermand, Roy McDermand, and Anne Waddy.

The family would like to thank Northcott Care Centre for the excellent care given to Mabel while she was there.  Special thanks to Carol Fletcher and Terry & Brenda Walker for all they have done.

Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Stollery Children’s Hospital or the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka.

A Memorial Service will be planned for Mabel when the current restrictions on public gatherings are lifted.  Details will be announced when they are available.
