Karen Lorraine Hammon Obituary

Karen Lorraine Hammon passed away peacefully Saturday June 6, 2020 in Ft. Myers, Florida. Karen was born June 17, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ferman and Doris (Tedrick) Wieland. She grew up in Mount Healthy, Ohio.

In her early adult years, Karen lived in Hinsdale, Illinois. She raised her girls there, while working for Grayhill. Her most loved hobby at the time was raising and breeding champion Rhodesian Ridgebacks. In 1987, Karen moved to Fort Meyers where she created and was the proud owner of The Upperhand. She loved making others feel pampered and beautiful.

Karen met the love of her life, Gordon, dancing. They enjoyed biking, taking walks, kayaking, and traveling the world together.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Ferman and Doris (Tedrick) Wieland, her first husband and father of her two girls, William Wilson.

Karen is survived by her loving Husband Gordon Hammon, daughters Shelly (Berst) Gruszka (Gordon), Rebecca Thiessen (Todd), cherished grandchildren, James Berst, Thomas Berst, Emmett Thiessen and Ty Thiessen.

All whom dearly loved her will never forget her infectious smile. She will be deeply missed and loved by her friends, family and all who knew her.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to: Gulf Coast Humane Society, Fort Myers, FL.
