Carol Huss Obituary

Carol Ann Huss was the first born to Bayard and Violet Benallack in 1943. Bayard and Violet were living in High River Alberta at the time as Bayard was stationed there with the Armed Forces. Mom always talked about her childhood down on the ranch. Either swimming in the creek or horseback riding, she loved the outdoors and farm and ranching life. She took her nurses training in Saskatoon and worked in various places until coming to Shaunavon where she met Edgar. They married in 1963 and began a life together on the Huss farm. Mom was a hard worker. She worked the land alongside dad for many years. From trucking grain from the combines to hauling bales and summer fallowing there wasn’t much she didn’t do or try. They started a family in 1964 with the birth of Mike with Vonda and Jason to follow. Edgar passed in January 2001 and mom remained on the farm helping out. In the last few years she decided to rent out the land and slow down some. She enjoyed making preserves and baking. She had been told she made the best dill pickles in the area. It seemed every time I spoke with her she was up to her elbows in bun or cinnamon bun dough. Peanut butter cookies were another favorite of hers to make. Mom was a simple person. Nothing fancy about her. She lived a quiet life the past few years on the farm. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and was pleased as punch when she got to meet her first Great Grandson Dawson. She was so proud of him. Mom passed away on June 11, 2020 in Regina General Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her passing was how she lived her life… quiet and peaceful. Carol’s family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses for the quick assessment of their mom in Shaunavon. Stars Air Ambulance for her quick trip to Regina and all the staff at the Cardiac Care Unit in Regina General. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar on January 9, 2001, father Bayard Benallack on July 8, 1986, mother Violet Benallack on January 21, 2011, father-in-law Clarence Huss on August 14, 1979 and mother-in-law Margaret Huss on September 2, 1992. She is survived by her son Mike (Joanne) of Kindersley, Saskatchewan; daughter Vonda Bilanski (Roy) of Battleford, Saskatchewan and grandsons Tyler (Sarah) of Battleford and Scott (Kristin) and great grandson Dawson of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan; and her son Jason (Trina) of Shaunavon, granddaughter Jessica of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, grandson Curtis of Regina and granddaughter Melyssa of Regina; brother Ronnie Benallack (Norma) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; sister Sandra Paul of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; and brother Randy Benallack (Sheila) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) is in charge of the arrangements. For those wishing, memorial donation to Stars Air Ambulance would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made in care of Binkley’s Funeral Service 306-297-2412 or toll free 1-877-BINKLEY.
