Janet S. Fleck Glenside, Pennsylvania Obituary

Janet S. Fleck

Janet S. Fleck, Beloved Aunt, family member, friend, gracious example, passed away comfortably on June 10, 2020 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.. She entered this world on October 24, 1925, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Hannah and Albert Schweikle. She had a fond memory of her childhood, including summers at Lake Shehawken and adventures there continued late into her adult life. She lived in her family home in North Hills, Pennsylvania, until she married her true love, Edwin L. Fleck (Lou) in 1966. Together they carved a beautiful life, complementing each other's strengths, and caring for home, gardens, volunteer activities, enjoying friends, travel, and serving family members in their time of need. Like her mother before her, she chose the nursing profession as her life's work and enjoyed a career at Abington Memorial Hospital, with one of her roles being that of Nursing Director. Her stories of her nursing years cause one to pause in awe and exclaim "She was a real nurse!". Janet had a great love for gardening and her talent can be described as: "The earth works magic beneath her trowel as the damp spring dirt gives way to tender shoots of green, later to delight the senses with plump juicy tomatoes or bouquets of brilliant color. The birds come too, for in all her gentle coaxing, a haven is born...... Throughout her life, she continued to influence others with her kindness, her grace, her intelligence, her generosity, her hard-working attitude and her friendship. She held a great love for her family and friends, as well as a deep heartfelt love and respect for her dear companions at Pine Run Community who lovingly assisted with her daily tasks. Our hearts grieve her loss, but as one dear friend so beautifully stated, "Heaven is a better place today. We are comforted to know that there is a special angel looking out for us." On her 94th birthday, her words of wisdom to us were "just love your neighbor and be kind to each other." Indeed, she already has looked out for us, in all that she taught, all that she shared and all that she loved.....
