Floella Thompson

Floella Mae Thompson, age 96 , Halifax passed away on June 6,2020 in the QE11 Health Services Centre. Born in Port Greville, she moved to Central Onslow at an early age. Her family was musical and they performed at church and community events where Flo played the piano. She lived in many areas of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as her husband worked for Canadian National Railway. She belonged to several organizations in the churches and parishes in these communities including the C.W.L. Flo’s wonderful sense of humour, kindness and generosity ensured that she made friends everywhere she went. Flo was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Emma (Dow) Varner, her husband John Thompson, daughter Lavonne Cail, sister Udevilla (Judy) Paley and her brothers Everett (Miriam) and William (Edna). She is survived by her chosen family Dave and Jo-Ann Campbell, Dawn Campbell, Scott, Suzanne, Riley, and Shamus Locke. She will be missed at all the family gatherings and especially by Dave from their weekly drives and adventures. Special thanks to the staff of Northwood Centre 4th Floor, Cathy Tibbo, John and Joyce Turcotte, Christine and Terry MacDonald for their care and friendship. A graveside service will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Cemetery in Stellarton. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name or a charity of your choice.

Dave and family,

Our condolences to you and the family. Flo was my mother's cousin and we visited her as often as we could. I knew her husband and daughter Lavonne as well. She will be missed and we have a lot of fond memories of our times together.

Oh Dave, I am so so sorry. Flo was truly one of a kind. She was always smiling. She had a heart of gold. Her love of chocolate knew no boundaries! Often, I'd pickup some Ferrero Roches for her and they would be gone in an instant.
