Lewis was born on February 2, 1928 to Anna Mae and Arthur Gamble in Marlin, Texas. She grew up with her sibling Delores Maxine Pitts in a loving home where their parents modeled and taught them the Word of God. Minister Lewis accepted Christ at an early age and served him faithfully. She was a gifted pianist with a superb Soprano voice that blessed many churches and touched many lives through her music and the power of her word. She was part of a musically inclined family which was been passed on to her from her father who was a great singer and musician, to her children, and grandchildren. Minister Lewis Rosetta served as pianist and/or choir/musical director at Upper Zion Baptist Church, Marlin Texas; churches in San Antonio TX to include Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, New Light Baptist Church, Joy Temple COGIC, Antioch Baptist Church, Greater Ball Tabernacle A.M.E Church, St. Joseph AME Church, and Bethel AME Church, Luling TX. During her journey Minister Lewis followed her husband and served with him when Reverend Marion L Lewis pastored at St. Marks A.M.E. Methodist Church, Corpus Christi. She leaves to cherish a host of family members: a sister Delores Maxine Pitts; Children: Andy Anderson (Bonnie) of Roseburg Oregon; Dwight Washington of San Antonio Texas, Mavis Washington of Alexandria Virginia, Charleen Owens (Samuel) of San Antonio Texas and Charles Washington (deceased) of San Antonio Texas; Grandchildren: Weldon Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Tanisha Washington, Brandon Washington, Benjamin Anderson, and Ashely Womack; numerous greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
