Twila Davis Obituary

Twila Chambers Davis of Adel died June 10, 2020 at home.  She was born September 16, 1923 in Valdosta, GA to Flaus and John Chambers.  She was a graduate of Valdosta High School and attended Valdosta Women’s College (now Valdosta State University).  She and her husband, Earl, dated through high school and married during WWII.

Twila was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1949.  She had a love of her church and participated in many activities including Sunday School, WMU, Sunshine Pals and singing in the choir.  She was an enthusiastic member of the Pilot Club of Adel since 1966 and was the oldest member.  She loved playing bridge and enjoyed the fun fellowship of the game with many groups of friends.

Twila and Earl loved to travel.  They went through all of the continental US, part of Mexico and much of Canada in their motorhome.  They went to Europe, China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Greece, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
She was an avid gardener.  She loved working in her yard, at her farm and with her house plants.  She was eager to share plants with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl and her brother, Yates B Chambers of Valdosta, GA.  She is survived by her children, Serena Murphy (Jimmy) of Adel, and Debra Molgedei (Reinhard) of  Atlanta; 8 grandchildren, Michael Adams of Adel, Christy Trimble of Adel, Scott Adams of Adel, Jamie Murphy (Kim) of Diberville, MS, Casey Murphy of Valdosta, Marisa Clarkson (Todd) of Atlanta, Erika York (Jay) of Atlanta and Christopher Murphy (Shannon) of Tuscaloosa, AL; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 

A private family graveside service will be held Friday, June 12, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Doug Stevens officiating. The family will be accepting flowers or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Adel, Cook County Library, or any charity of your choice.
