Duane A. Swearingen of Cave Creek passed away peacefully on June 6, 2020 at the age of 88.  Duane (Skip) was born, April 27, 1932 in Waverly, IA to John E. and Rita Swearingen.  Skip was in the Army serving in Korea in 1953.  Upon returning home he attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA.  After graduation he moved to the Chicago, IL area and worked for Campbell Soups.  From there he worked for H.M. (ITT) Harper, a family owned stainless steel manufacturing company.  It was there that he met Nancy Louise Hitch through his friend and collegue at Harper.  The two were married on August 7, 1965 in Akron, Ohio.  They relocated in Indianapolis, IN where Skip had been transferred to open a warehouse for Harper of stainless nuts and bolts and Nancy taught school.  It was there that daughter Linda Ann was born. Five years later Skip was transferred to Milwaukee, WI leaving the nut and bolt section of the company to concentrate on expanded and extruded stainless metal bars.  It was there that their son, John Douglas (Doug) was born.  Again, after 5 years they relocated to Northbrook, IL  While in Northbrook, at the home office, he was Market Manager of the stainless devision.  After 25 years in Northbrook, IL Skip and Nancy relocated to Carefree/Cave Creek.   Here they enjoyed the desert and many local organization in the Phoenix area.  Skip is survived by his wife, Nancy of 55 years and his daughter Linda and her husband Guido Oliverii and their two sons Tommaso and Antonio of Libertyville, IL. Skip was preceeded in death by his son, John Douglas (Doug) of Phoenix, AZ,  his parents, of Carroll, IA  and his brother, Doug, of Marshalltown, IA.  Skip is survived ,also, by his sister Kathy (KAS) Clausen of Carroll, IA and a very close cousin, Roger Lewis who resides near Marshalltown. IA and his many friends that he met and supported him in his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church in Carefree.
