Janet M. Holm, age 90, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Society. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake is entrusted with the arrangements. Janet M. Holm was born to Clarence J. and Alice (Hunt) Hartsell on June 8, 1930 in Moritz, South Dakota. She attended grade school at Moritz District #33, where she met the love of her life, Edgar Holm. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1948 and worked for the next five years for Gunderson & Gunderson Attorneys and what is now known as the Farm Service Agency (FSA). Janet and Edgar were united in marriage on September 20, 1953. They farmed until retiring from active farming in January of 1933. They then moved to Clear Lake in 1995. At a very early age, Janet developed exceptional skills at sewing and it became a passion for the rest of her life. She loved to garden and for many years had large vegetable and flowers gardens. She was also an excellent cook and homemaker. Janet was an active member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women and the United Methodist Quilters. She is survived by her two daughters: JoEllyn (Gregory) Dehmer of Richfield, MN and Cynthia “Cindy” Holm of Watertown, SD; sister, Geneva Turbes of Watertown, SD; nephew, Mark (Dawn) Clark of Byron, MN and two great nephews, Jason and Alex Clark, also of Byron, MN; and many cousins.
