Before relocating to her hometown, she provided in home day-care services and worked as an assistant supervisor of housekeeping at Midtown Bala Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was an active member of Atlantic City's Union Baptist Temple where she served in the Helping Hands Club. Ms. Shirley, as she was affectionally called, loved helping people and spreading the good news of the Lord! Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. She encouraged her fellow patients at Mary Gran Nursing Center to accept God and the gift of eternal life.
