Michael Lee "Big Mike" McKillip, 60, of Middletown entered into eternal rest suddenly on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Hershey Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1959 in Harrisburg and was the son of the late Lawson L. and Elaine (Kipp) McKillip. Mike worked at MJR Equipment as well as Hershey Entertainment & Resort. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Mike was a very big part of the Lower Swatara Fire Department for 31 years. In the department he began running fires but for the last several years he acted as President of the Fire Company, conducted weekly BINGO, and was the coordinator of the Social Fire Hall and coordinated with Bureau of Forestry Pa DCNR for Pa DCNR Deployments. He also worked with the ladies auxiliary with the monthly meal fundraisers at the Firehouse. He enjoyed many activities such as watching NASCAR, cooking, camping, driving trucks and Stockcar racing at Williams Grove Speedway. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen (Ortity), daughter, Amanda L. Miller of Middletown; sons, Shawn M. McKillip (Autumn) of OK, Kevin A. McKillip of Middletown; sisters, Sandra Barron of Limerick, Angela McKillip of Harrisburg, and Vickie Wilson and Marie Dodson of Carlisle; grandchildren, Kaylee M. Miller, Keelin S. Gaus, Kieran R. Gaus, Kai M. McKillip and Knoxx A. McKillip. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, services will be private. Inurnment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Middletown on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 11:30 AM. Anyone wishing to attend can meet at the Matinchek Funeral Home, 260 E. Main St. Middletown to be in the procession starting at 10:15 AM for a prompt departure at 11:00 AM. Light refreshments will be served at the Lower Swatara Fire Dept. following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Lower Swatara Fire Dept., 1350 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown, PA 17057.
