James David Dacey May 1, 1949- June 3, 2020 On Wednesday June 3rd, 2020, at 9:10 am, James David Dacey passed away peacefully and comfortable after a long battle with the covid19 virus. He was a loving husband, father of 3 children and 2 grandchildren. James was predeceased by his parents James “Jigger” and Dorothy ( Cookson) Dacey. James grew up in the north end of Halifax, Nova Scotia where he was born. He married to the love of his life on May 20th 1978 to Joan (Nauss) for 42 years and they were together for 45 years. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in the covid unit in the hospital. They raised their 3 children together, Jimmy (Sonya), Jennifer & Julie. James joined the navy in 1969 and he served 32 years. He then worked as correctional officer for 10 years. After James retired he spent the reminder of his life surrounded by his loving family. James was also known as “Big Jim” and for his sense of humor. He was the most happy cooking at family gatherings and everyone looked forward to his devilled eggs. Jim loved sports, especially baseball and hockey. He was so proud of his nephews and watched as many games as he could. He was proud of his 3 children and he dedicated his life to ensuring they all had the tools to be successful, especially teaching them all the value of money. He loved his grandchildren Brandon Dacey & Nolan Ennis with all of his heart. Nolan got to spend the first 3 years of his life with Grampy Everyday they had breakfast together and Grampy would hold his trucks and keep them safe while Nolan went out with his mommy.
