Dominick “Dom” Serpico, age 90 of Plainfield, IL passed away peacefully, Friday, June 5, 2020 at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home of Naperville. He was born October 31, 1929 in Chicago, IL to his loving late parents, Vincenzo and Santa Serpico, whom migrated from Italy. Cherished husband of Fanny Serpico, nee Grazioli, wedded on February 9, 1952. Beloved father of Dominick Jr. (Susan) Serpico, Vincent (Deborah) Serpico and Anthony (Eileen) Serpico. Adored grandpa of Bella Serpico with 6 other additional grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also surviving. Dearest brother of the late Vincent Serpico and Joe (Angie) Serpico whom all grew up in a lovely family home on Taylor Street. He was a proud US Army Veteran, briefly serving his country in 1951. Dominick graduated from Crane High School and worked in the family construction business. He left to work for the City of Oak Park in the Streets and Sanitation Department. He worked his way through his hard work to become a union electrician where he worked for Oak Park for over 30 years. He took a second job moonlighting at Sun Electric. Dom was a life-long sports fan, especially of baseball, taking joy in attending his son, Vince’s high school games, enjoyed attending Dominick, Jr.’s musical concerts, and talking about cars and working on cars with Anthony. He loved teaching his sons how to fix and repair just about anything. In retirement he enjoyed hanging out with his retired friends watching horse races at the OTB and placing his modest or $2 bets. He was good at analyzing the odds, loved doing the calculations, reading the race forms. He was quiet, kind, soft spoken, dutiful husband and father with old fashioned values.
