E. Lorene Sims, 77, of Pana passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 in Pana Community Hospital. She was born April 2, 1943 in Pana, daughter of Homer Dale & Audrey I. (Rueff) Glick. Lorene married Lyle Sims, who survives, on December 26, 1959 in Pana, recently celebrating 60 years of marriage. Lorene was a graduate of Pana High School and a member of Christ Tabernacle, Herrick. She had worked for Mallory Timers and Marine Bank in Springfield. She also sold insurance for Metropolitan and worked for Cyrus Chiropractic in Pana for 17 years before retiring. Lorene enjoyed gardening, camping and vacationing with friends. She just loved being around people. She was a phenomenal cook; cooking for several fundraisers and baked many wedding cakes. In addition to her husband, Lorene is survived by her sons: Vincent (Cheryl) Sims, Urbana, IL and Kent (Kelly) Sims, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Annette (Brett) Donoho, Jennifer (Johnny) Carson, Jonathon (Jennifer) Runyon, Emily (Les) Cotton, Jordan (Ashley) Sims, Taylor (Justine) Sims, Heidi (Justin) Blake, Alexis Sims, Destiny Sims, Tyler (Marissa) Sims, Whitney (Quincy) Wood, Logan Sims; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Rhett Horn, New Albany, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Horn. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in Christ Tabernacle, Herrick at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Thomas Suey, Pastor Jereme Suey & Pastor Les Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2020 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the church. Memorials in Lorene’s honor may be made to Mid-America Preparatory School in Herrick or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
