Obituary

Mary (Doll) Wigginton, 88, of Fargo, N.D., passed away suddenly but peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2020, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Mary Regina Wigginton was born at home March 10, 1932, in Perham, Minn., to Peter Henry and Anna (Delaney) Doll. One of eight children, she was always entertaining her siblings through music on the family farm south of Perham.

Mary grew up in a Catholic family and always had a spot in the church choir. She held her unwavering faith in God until the day she died.

Mary graduated from Perham High School and went on to earn a degree from Dakota Business College in Fargo. She remained in Fargo where she raised her two sons, Mike and Pat. She had a long career as an accountant and administrative assistant at Ed Phillips & Sons and Southeast Human Services Center, where she retired from.

Mary always filled their home with music, playing the violin and piano. She appeared in lots of productions for the Silver Follies, proud to always have her two sons in the front row.

Known for her theatrical personality and jewelry that always matched her outfits, Mary entertained those at her final home just as she did her first, playing the piano for the crowds that would gather around her at Riverview Place. She could beat anyone at her favorite game, Rummy, or what she called, “Wiggy’s wacky wummy.”

There wasn’t much Mary enjoyed more than watching the Minnesota Twins, especially Joe Mauer. She was always decked out in team apparel on game days with her walker nearby, which was outfitted with a Twins license plate.

Mary is survived by her two sons: Mike (Cheryl) of West Fargo, N.D.; Pat (Sheila Carney) of Fargo, N.D.; six grandchildren: Justin (Sam) of West Fargo; Tyler (Chenoa Larson) of Fargo; Zach and Carissa of Fargo; Kyle and Sam of West Fargo; and three great-grandchildren: Gage, Urijah and Silas. She is also survived by her brothers Patrick (Ellen) Doll and Leo Doll of Perham, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family.

Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents, her sisters Alice and Margaret, brothers Monsignor William, Francis and Joseph, sisters-in-law Theresa and Kay and brother-in-law Jim.

The funeral service will have a 60-person capacity and is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at St. Lawrence Church in Perham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Riverview Place in Fargo.
