Shirley J (McCoy) Youngblood, 88 year-old Vinita resident, passed away on June 1, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born February 11, 1932 in Chelsea, Ok to Harry and Myrtie(Glenn) MCCoy. After Highschool Shirley met and married Wayne Youngblood, he preceded her in death in 1998. Shirley went to school to obtain her teaching degree, where she taught school at places such as Catale, Gregory, Osage County and then White Oak where she taught for 18 years upon retirement. She loved to fish for crappie and did it a lot, she was very active in her church, she also loved gardening, traveling and visiting with all her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and a brother Dennis MCCoy. The surviving family includes: her two sons, Jerry W Youngblood of Vinita, Walter L Youngblood of Clarksville,AR, four grandchildren, Kerri Means, Jeff Cook, Eric Youngblood, Nikki Youngblood, twelve great-grandchildren and seventeen great great-grandchildren The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday June 4, 2020 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home in Vinita. The celebration of life will be on Friday June 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vinita, Ok, with Pastor Skip Mcclain officiating and burial will follow at the Chelsea Cemetery.
