Chester Francis

Chester “Chet” Francis, age 69, of Wilsonville, Nebraska, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 1, 2020.  He was born in McCook, Nebraska, on May 12, 1951 to Leonard “Vike” and Pauline (Eliker) Francis.  Growing up, Chet spent time in Moab, Utah, mining with his dad.  The family settled in Wilsonville in 1961. He graduated from Wilsonville High School with the class of 1969 and also attended Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado and Hastings College.  On March 25, 1983, he was united in marriage to Katherine Ike Urling.  To this marriage he added two children to his life: Suree and Johnny.  Chet loved farming and farmed along with his dad in Wilsonville.  He continued to farm the land after his dad had passed away.  He loved classic cars, his dogs, family, grandkids, and close friends. Chet was a gentle man and would give you the shirt off his back. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard "Vike" and Pauline Francis; three brothers: David and Tim Tillotson and Robert Francis. Chet is survived by his wife, Kathie, of Wilsonville; daughter, Suree (Bob) Schilz of Milford, NE; son, Johnny (Kristen) of Cambridge;10 grandchildren: Kenidee Urling of Wilsonville, Kassidy Urling of Wilsonville and Tristan Urling of McCook, Sarah Fritsch of McCook, Jessica Fritsch of Kearney, Hannah and Noah Schilz of Milford, NE;Dexter Besler, Brodie Besler and Cloe Belser all of Cambridge; four sisters: Dottie French of Longmont, CO, Mary Karash of Venango, NE, Lenora Schilz of  Bristol,VA, Judy Elwood of Oberlin, KS; many nieces and nephews and close friend, Danny Elwood of Oberlin, KS. In keeping with Chet’s wishes, the family is honoring his request to be cremated and to have no memorial service.  Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenourfh.com.  Memorials may be left in Chet’s name.  Lockenour-Jones Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.   Cambridge, Nebraska
