Crezzetta Gordon Obituary

                                                                                                                        Crezzetta’s Legacy of Life

Sister Crezzetta Gordon was the fourth of 10 sons and daughters born to Henry and Minerva Gordon.  She was born on May 5, 1929, in Brookshire, Texas.  She accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized at an early age.  Her first church membership was at Curry Chapel Baptist Church in Brookshire, Texas.  She attended and was active in this church throughout her youth.

Sister Gordon attended schools in the Brookshire School District in her youth and completed nursing school and cosmetology school as a young adult.  She enjoyed a long career as a cosmetologist and used her nursing skills as a volunteer in the care for others.

God blessed Crezzetta with two sons, five grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She was blessed to know and loved them all.  As a young grandmother, she spent a lot of time playing with her grandchildren as  well as supporting their growth.   She was always protective of and sensitive to the needs and feelings of her sons and their families.  She had a special relationship with all of her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She has a special bond with the nieces and nephews she accepted as her own. Family was very important to her and she worked hard to keep the family together.  Always emphasizing the love that family should have for each other, she encouraged reunions, communicating, and personal contact with each other.

As an adult, Sister Gordon united with Sunlight Baptist Church where she worked in the Mission for years.  She  was especially proud of the fact that she was an usher at Sunlight for over 60 years. When her health prevented her from serving as an usher, she still took pride in being able to say that she would rather be a “Doorkeeper” in the house of the Lord: Psalm 84:10.  She had many friends at Sunlight and cherished the memories of the many years she spent there until the end.

Crezzetta (Aunt Cree, Granny Cree) was known in the community for her generosity and willingness to assist anyone in need.  She was a prayer warrior who was always ready and willing to go to God for any reason for anyone.  She was always praying for family and friends and was willing to talk to anyone.  She was always singing and was willing to have others join her.  She welcomed many to her home and wanted there to always be peace and joy.  She is a true child of God and wanted everyone to know it.

Sister Crezzetta Gordon is preceded in death by her parents- Henry Gordon and Minerva Gordon; four brothers- Robert, Roy, Henry Jr. and James (JW); two sisters- Effie Gordon Brigham and Ruby Lee Gordon Wilson; and        a number of nieces and nephews to include- Gregory Brigham, Mark Brigham and James Wilson.  She leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons- Ernest (Norma) and Cary (Patricia); three grandsons- Patrick, Hamilton, and Jonathan; two granddaughters- Bridgette and Erica; three sisters- Ora, Olevia, and Gladys; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
