<p>On Monday, June 1st, Gonzalo H Rodriguez Jr., passed away at his home at age 90, surrounded by his family.</p> <p>Gonzalo was born on June&nbsp;19, 1929 in Uvalde, TX to Soledad and Gonzalo Rodriguez Sr. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War having served from December of 1950 to November of 1952, with overseas duty in Germany. He moved back to Uvalde and married Maria Teresa Flores on May 24th, 1958. They raised two children, Rita and Beto.</p> <p>Gonzalo had a passion for hard work; he worked for Coca-Cola for 42 years. He enjoyed spending time at his ranch, the American Legion and his front porch. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He had a special place in his heart for the cancer patients at St. Jude.</p> <p>Gonzalo was preceded in death by his parents Soledad and&nbsp;Gonzalo, along with his brother, Arnoldo.</p> <p>He is survived by his wife Maria, his two devoted children, Rita and Mario Ortiz of Dallas, TX, and Beto and Kimberly Rodriguez of Uvalde, TX; his loving grandchildren: Jennifer and Robert Rodriguez, Melissa and Blake Cantrell, Brittney and Steven Rodriguez, Larissa Allsup and Nick Ortiz; his adorable great grandchildren: Daniel, Graydon, Kylie, Peyton, Hunter, Kayla and Grayson; and his dog Brenda Lee.</p> <p>Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing- Estes- Knowles Mortuary on 220 S. Getty St. The funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on 408 Fort Clark Rd. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be sent to St. Jude&rsquo;s charity in his name.</p> <p>Pallbearers will be Robert Rodriguez, Steven Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, Beto Rodriguez, Nick Ortiz, and Mario Ortiz</p>
