Marisa Mendes Toronto, Ontario Obituary

Marisa Mendes

It is with profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of our beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Marisa Memme-Mendes, on June 1, 2020 at the age of 59. Predeceased by her father Guido, she leaves behind her mother Maria. Beloved wife to Fernando and devoted mother to Melanie (Remo Sambartolo) and Richard. Proud Nonna of Giovanni, Niko and Lorenzo. Cherished sister to Frank (Grace), Claudio (Gina) and Lidia (Joe) and sister-in-law to Paul (Anna) Mendes. She will always be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families. During this unprecedented situation with COVID-19, it is with very heavy hearts that our family has made the difficult decision to hold a limited attendance funeral with our immediate family, in honor of our dear daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Marisa Mendes. We have chosen to do this to minimize the threat of spreading the coronavirus. Ultimately, we recognize that the health and safety of our family and friends comes first. We appreciate your love and support at this time, and we welcome your messages of condolence. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Bernardo Funeral Home. As of May 29, 2020, guests will need to reserve time slots for visitation as per the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (the BAO) mandate. ALL VISITATION TIME SLOTS HAVE BEEN BOOKED - confirmation emails will be sent on Tuesday June 2. Please Note: As of April 7, 2020, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (the BAO) has implemented a directive of 10 people MAXIMUM in the entire funeral home at any given time (not including staff). For more information on the directive, please visit: https://thebao.ca/registrars-directive-10-max-or-less-in-the-entire-funeral-home-at-one-time/. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. and is for the immediate family ONLY. For those wishing to view the funeral service, we are providing the service virtually via Zoom. Please reach out to get the link and password. Private entombment will follow at Westminster Cemetery. Please note that cemeteries fall under the same rule of 10 maximum. Please do not come to the funeral home to follow in procession or to watch the Zoom service from our parking lot. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SickKids Foundation in memory of Marisa. A tribute and celebration of her life will be held at a later date, when it is safe to do so.
