Maria Deus Gonsalves, age 65, of Rosanna Ave., Rumford, died May 31, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Wayne Gonsalves for 46 years. Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Humberto and Ilda (Medeiros) Gomes. Maria was devout and faithful to the Lord and his Mother Mary. Her life was exemplified by her virtues of faith, hope, kindness and generosity. She was a giving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl Gonsalves and partner Stephanie Giragosian of Cranston, a granddaughter Alexis Gouger of Cranston. She is survived by her siblings; Duarte Gomes, John Gomes, Anna Rocha, Gloria Botelho, Margaret Nascimento, Tina Carvalho all of East Providence and Filomena Carvalho of Sao Miguel, Azores, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St. East Providence, RI. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
