New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Cyrus James Gary, 79, who passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Iberia Medical Center. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Korey LaVergne will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. A rosary, led by Deacon Durk Viator, will be prayed at 5:30 pm on Thursday. Cyrus James Gary was born on December 29, 1940 to the late Sidney and Eula Touchet Gary. He was a retired truck driver, and he enjoyed vegetable gardening and working in his yard (he had the cleanest yard around!), but what brought his the greatest joy was raising his son, Max and granddaughter, Kaylin. Mr. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie Courville Gary; son, Max Auffinger of New Iberia; daughters, Tiffany Hernandez and husband Raul of Corpus Christi, Shannon Laviolette of Connecticut; grandchildren, Kaylin and Nicolas Moreno, and Brianna and Sophia Robertson; great-grandchildren, Jaylinn and Jordan Anderson; brothers, U.J. Gary and wife Delorise of Coteau, Elgene Gary and wife Wanda of Grand Isle, Nerry Gary and wife Sylvia of New Iberia; sister, Clara Romero of Coteau; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Raywood Gary; nephews, Michael and Chance Gary; niece, Melissa Birch, and his in-laws, Angelas and Mae Courville. Pallbearers will be Max Auffinger, Nicolas Moreno, U.J. Gary, Nerry Gary, Juan Moreno, and Perry "Sam" Gary. Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, (337-365-3331) is in charge of arrangements.
