Jean E. Volpa Williamstown, New Jersey Obituary

Jean E. Volpa

Jean E. Volpa (nee Gutenkunst), 93, of Sicklerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Jean was raised in Westmont, NJ before making her home in Sicklerville with her loving late husband, Joe. She worked as an executive secretary for a number of years before starting a family, but eventually was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Jean then worked as a nurse for nearly 10 years before retiring to be a family caretaker. She loved gardening and could root any clipping, and was a long time member of the Horticulture Society of South Jersey where she had won many a ribbon for various submissions. Her love of flowers can be seen around her yard and throughout her home. She felt the best way to appreciate a flower was to let it grow, rather than clipping it. She had always been a caring woman who had taken in several stray dogs though the years. The last was Lil Girl who was a stray found across the street. Lil Girl quickly became a beloved part of the family and has been missed since her passing.

Jean was a faithful Lutheran and active member of St. James Lutheran Church where she helped create food basket donations for the community. She had also been in charge of the coffee hour at St. John's Lutheran Church before changing congregations. Jean would also help her son Eddie with some of his treasury duties and church bookkeeping.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Volpa. Devoted mother of Peter (Retta) Volpa and Edward Volpa. Loving grandmother of Nicole and Michael (Angie).

Due to the current health crisis, Funeral Services are being held privately.
