Theresa Delores Kramer Obituary

Theresa Delores “Dodee” Kramer, 87, of Danville, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville.
She was born November 27, 1932, in Westville to John E. and Mary T. (Rigo) Russian.  She was the 10th of 11 children born to John and Mary.

She married John R. (Jack) Kramer on February 11, 1956, at St. Mary’s Church in Westville.  He preceded her in death on October 6, 2011.
She is survived by two sons, John R., Jr. (Sharon) Kramer of Danville; Michael E. (Cathie) Kramer of Danville; one granddaughter, Alika M. Kramer of Danville; one sister and her husband, Evelyn (Jim) Coleman of Veedersburg, IN; one sister-in-law, Blanche Russian of Westville; one brother-in-law, Harold Bennett of Westville; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, two brothers, and their spouses.  Suzzanna (Edward) Rush, Sister Mary Edmund O.S.F., John Jr., Margaret (Carl) Majercin, Mary Marjanovich, Mildred (Walter) Sterner, Kathryn (Tony) Such, Donald (Carol) Russian, and Rosalie Bennett.
Theresa graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School in Westville and graduated from Schlarman High School in 1951.  She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company after graduating high school until her sons were born.  When her sons were in high school, she worked at the Three Dimensions women’s clothing store in Danville for several years.

When Jack and Theresa were first married, they attended St. Joseph’s Church in Danville and their sons attended St. Joseph’s School.  While they were in school, Theresa was president of the St. Joseph’s School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and involved in many volunteer activities at the school.  When St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Grade Schools combined, Theresa was active in the PTA at St. Patrick’s Grade School and other volunteer activities.  When her sons attended Schlarman High School, she volunteered there frequently too.  When St. Joseph’s Church closed, she was a faithful member of Holy Family Church for over 50 years.

Theresa enjoyed being active and was a charter member of Roselawn Fitness in Danville.  She really enjoyed the workouts with her many friends at Roselawn.  A favorite pastime of hers was working in the yard at home planting and tending the many flowers she had.  She would take a bouquet of flowers from the yard every Monday from spring until fall to her friends at Roselawn.  Baking was also a favorite pastime and during the holidays, she made and shared many baked goods with family and friends.  From the time Theresa was a child, she always had pets.  Growing up at home there were family dogs and when she had her own home, there was always a dog around and many stray cats adopted Theresa where they were treated very well.  She will be deeply missed by her last two cats, Dexter and Sophia.

Even though Theresa was very busy in her own life, she never missed a sporting event or activity her sons were involved in while they were growing up.  She also enjoyed attending softball games and any other activities her granddaughter was involved in.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She will be missed very much.

There will be a private family Rosary and Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, with entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Schlarman Academy, Holy Family Church, or any animal shelter of your choice.  Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home Facebook page
