Zelma Lee Epps Scott, age 79 of Maxton passed away to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

Zelma, daughter of the late Matthew Epps and Dora Lee Branch Epps, was born August 13, 1940 in Robeson County. She was the wife of 61 years to the late Frank Scott who preceded her in death in 1994. She worked many years for Eaton Corporation in Laurinburg. Zelma was a faithful member of Union Light Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time reading her Bible, working in her flower garden, shopping and going out to eat with family. She was always willing to help her family and friends in time of need and will forever be missed as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Louie Scott, Benny Scott; step-son, Ben Franklin Scott; brothers, Graham Epps, Mark Epps, Louis Edward Epps; sisters, Ruby Clark and Sadie Dukes.

Zelma is survived by her son, Matthew Wayne Scott of the home; daughter, Dora Juanita “Nita” Scott Deese of Maxton; brothers, Clyde Epps (Estelle) of Maxton, Varsie Epps (Carolyn) of Red Springs, Lucious “Porkey” Epps (Vera), Joseph “Ike” Epps (Deborah), all of Maxton; sisters, Arletha Epps of Maxton, Betty Johnson of Laurinburg, Hattie Beck (Lacy) of Hamlet, Lillian Hoback (Kelly), Geraldine Epps, Connie Caulder, all of Maxton, Doretha Epps of Ocean Isle Beach; brother-in-law, Donald Dukes of Maxton; grandchildren, Patrick Fields, Dennis Scott, Chasady Clark, Franklin Locklear, Dakota Jones, great grandchildren, Dawayne Fields, Amaya Fields, Cameron Fields, Jaidyn Graham, Danielle Clark, Falyn Locklear, Kurt Quick, along with her loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Union Light Baptist Church with burial following in the Epps Family Cemetery, Maxton, NC, officiated by Rev. Jarrell Brewer and Rev. Billy Ray Oxendine. A time of viewing will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Union Light Baptist Church.
